If you have had a fall don’t panic, you are not
alone. Every year 1 in 3 people over the age of 65 will
have a fall and 50% of those will have another fall
within a year. Falling used to be considered a direct
result of ageing and went untreated, but not anymore.
Now we know that many things can be done to prevent
falls. People under the age of 65 tend to fall due to
environmental hazards but in the case of older people
falls are more often due to a combination of problems.
We hope the following information pages will be useful
and will help you to become aware of the many factors
associated with the causes and prevention of falls and
broken bones.
